We recently produced and launched some new Control Room training packages for services to utilise. 

We have created:

• A Commanders’/managers’/supervisors’ course.  This should be delivered using the same methodology as the consolidated commanders’ course. There is a trainer’s handbook and PowerPoint deck to support delivery.
• A short series of slides that services can use in conjunction with the online EPC produced all staff awareness product to give control room staff an awareness of JESIP by distance learning.
• A version of the classroom awareness product developed by the EPC which has been modified for control room staff.

New Operational Communications Advisors Courses Available in 2018 and 2019

The College of Policing have released some new dates for the Operational Communications Advisor Course (previously known as ‘Airwave Tactical Advisor’ course).  This replaces previous single service training on this topic. The course has been revised during 2016 and now contains the most up to date and relevant information. As is the ethos of JESIP, it will be delivered by a multi-agency training team and delivered to multi-agency audience to maximise the benefit for all attendees.

When trained, the Communications Advisor will be responsible to their operational and tactical planning teams, providing advice and best practice guidance on all aspects of the operational use of Airwave.

They will have a high level of understanding of the provisions made for the operational use of mandated and mutual aid talk groups, together with the Airwave service requirements around major incident and event planning.

For them to be effective, the Communications Advisor must be invited to participate at the very earliest stages of major event planning and importantly be invited to assist where protracted spontaneous incidents are encountered in control rooms.

Below are a series of dates for the one day refresher Operational Communications Advisor Course.
