Doctrine Review Launched
Doctrine Review Launched

The Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) team has today launched a national Call for Evidence as part of the review of the Joint Doctrine.
The review marks an important milestone in the continued development of interoperability across the UK’s emergency services and responder community. It provides an opportunity to reflect on lessons identified over the last decade and ensure the doctrine remains relevant, effective and fit for the challenges of the future.
Since its introduction following recommendations made by the Coroner after the 7 July 2005 London bombings, the Joint Doctrine has provided a common framework for multi-agency working, helping responders from different organisations work together more effectively when responding to incidents and emergencies.
Over the last ten years, the doctrine has become embedded within emergency service training, exercising and operational practice. However, the operating environment continues to evolve. Emerging risks, new technologies, changing organisational structures and lessons identified from incidents across the UK all present opportunities to strengthen interoperability further.
The review will consider how the doctrine can continue to support effective joint working across emergency services and responder organisations, while ensuring it remains practical, accessible and aligned with current operational requirements.
